Jim Stone as far as I can tell is the only one online, aside from yours truly right now, asking this question. Even the HAARPie Queen Leuren Moret accepts the 9.0 magnitude story.
The KO experienced a 7.1 magnitude quake in the Philippines once upon a time. If you haven’t already experienced one and if you’re a JMW Turner fan, you would like the experience of the Earth shaking, assuming you end up still in one piece. Riding the violent whipsawing of Mother Earth is thrilling. However, I cannot imagine enduring a temblor a hundred times stronger. The Calgary Stampede can only go so far.
A magnitude 9.0 is a totally different encounter than a mere 7.0. Yet where is the earthquake damage Stone asks in the immediate aftermath of the Tohoku quake? It is a necessary question. Spend a few minutes studying images of the aftermath of the 1995 Hanshin earthquake http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=kobe+earthquake a 6.8 magnitude temblor.
Now compare to the dearth of earthquake-caused destruction in the Tohoku region (top link).
Stone has a point. It was the tsunami that destroyed just about everything, not the so-called magnitude 9.0 earthquake.
