Don’t throw away those solar filters you used for last week’s spectacular annular eclipse because next week Venus transits the Sun.

Venus seemed to be the Evening Star for an eternity.  Conditions were poor again this evening for sky-gazing so didn’t locate Cupid’s mom.  Probably too close to Apollo to see without knowing precisely where Her Majesty is.

Venus is about the size of Earth.  Remember that when observing.  The Sun’s diameter is 864,000 miles.

Japanese observers, please click this http://eclipse.star.gs/venus/transit.jpg link for the show time.

Let’s hope we get decent weather next Wednesday.
